I was recently inspired by a note I saw on Substack by Caroline Thomas about how incredibly cool Natasha Richardson’s character Elizabeth James is, in Parent Trap. It got me thinking about all the other roles women have played as working mums, or motherly figures, and how these characters have broken the mould, ditching the stereotypes for multi-layered roles full of love, sacrifice, resilience, chaos, and charm. Whether they’re saving the world or getting through a busy breakfast time, they’ve got grit, heart, and a whole lot of flair.
